How do we purchase tickets?
Tickets can be purchased online or by calling Bulldog Tours directly at 843-722-8687. You may also purchase tickets at our shop located at 18 Anson Street.
Is advance purchase required?
Advance purchase is recommended as there is a good chance the tour will be full, leaving no room for walk-up guests.
Where do the tours meet?
All our walking tours meet at our Ticket Shop – 18 Anson Street. See our map for exact directions to Bulldog Tours Headquarters. Haunted Jail Tour is paid for at our Ticket Shop but you meet your tour guide at the Jail. We will give you a map to the Jail – only 6 blocks away.
Is parking available?
There are some metered parking spaces throughout the Historical District but they are often taken and require you to continually feed the meter. Your best bet is to either park in a paid lot or park at the Visitors Center and ride the Downtown Area Shuttle (DASH) or park in one of the garages around The City Market. However, the meters are free after 10pm for the night tours. Those that chose the Haunted Jail Tour may drive instead of walk the 6 blocks. Click here for a link to some area garages.
What is the cancellation policy?
If you need to change your tickets, you can do so with a minimum of 24 hours notice. Just let us know. In extreme cases we may ask for a Doctor’s excuse. Or a note from your parents.
What if it rains?
Tours will go on rain or shine unless there are severe conditions. Feel free to call us at 843-722-TOUR (8687) if you have any concerns. If there is a hurricane in Charleston at the time of the tour, there is no need to call. We will be busy boarding up windows or throwing a Hurricane Party.
Are restrooms available?
We do have a restroom available. It’s free – as all restrooms should be.
Are we gonna see a ghost on the any of the tours?
Maybe. However, there is a minimal charge of $3 per person if we see a ghost. That is, if you stick around to actually PAY the $3!!
What about ghosts in the Old City Jail?
Let’s just say that if you get scared easily, do not take The Haunted Jail Tour!! The Jail is not quite as scary if it is light outside, such as the 7pm tour, depending on the time of the year.
Is the tour too scary for children?
The Charleston Ghost and Dungeon Tour and The Charleston Ghost & Graveyard Tour are family oriented but if your child screams the entire trip, we do ask you keep that child at least 100 feet from the other guests. And if your child freaks out from hearing ghost stories, it is probably your fault, not ours. The Haunted Jail Tour may be too scary for young children or easily frightened adults.
Why is The Dark Side of Charleston tour Rated R?
The Dark Side of Charleston is an adult history tour. Topics include brothels, scandals, murder, crime, bootlegging, and prostitution. It is recommended for adults only unless your child has watched an obscene amount of cable TV.

What is the pace of the tour?
The pace is greatly influenced by the city, its sidewalks, weather and terrain. Some buildings we go into are older and require some maneuvering to get through their AADA access routes. One should note that the pace of our tours cannot be slowed as we are bound to time constraints. If you or a member of your group has a disability, please speak with our staff before you decide to take the tour.
Are your tours accessible for people with disabilities?
Yes, with advanced notice (two business days) all our tours can accommodate people with disabilities. Keep in mind Charleston was built on uneven terrain and the public streets, sidewalks, and cemeteries can be uneven.
